Seeking a Physical Therapist for a Therapist Owned Centers in the Towson/northern Baltimore area. This Physical Therapist (PT) need is in a medical adult day care, so it is a unique setting that most therapists don't have the opportunity to work in. The attendees are patients that had a hospital stay and are well enough to go home, but still have some medical and rehab needs, so they go to this adult daycare to get therapy, nursing, and recreation needs filled. Medical adult day care is a mixed population of 70% geriatric (including dementia), 25% developmentally disabled (mentally retarded), and 5% are traumatic brain injuries/other. The facility picks the patients up and brings them home at the end of the day. Each facility has its own rehab room, friendly cooperative environment, and good interdisciplinary communication. Because there is only one of each therapist of each discipline, we cannot consider new grads—all Physical Therapy applicants must have at least one year of licensed experience as well as be responsible and feel competent.
For full-time the PT will be required to cover 3 Adult Daycares located in Towson/northern Baltimore area-- the therapist will cover one building in the morning and one building in the afternoon each day (2 buildings each day). The therapist will be paid for drive time and mileage in between buildings and have some freedom to get outside for a bit. For part-time the therapist will be required to cover at least two buildings. The workday can be set up various ways depending on how many hours per week the physical therapist is hired for, however for example, in a 40 hour week, the day is broken up into 6 hours treatment time and two hours of paperwork, However, if you finish early you are allowed to leave early. Therapists are asked to treat an average of 9 patients per day for a 40 hour week, and proportional if it's less hours per week. Patients can be seen together but we ask that a therapist not see more than 2 patients per hour. Treatments are a minimum of 38 minutes. The owners are both therapists themselves and are NOT interested in running a factory. They aim to be reasonable on productivity and take good care of the patients. They are looking for therapists who can practice independently and handle their own schedule. It is very flexible practice and productivity is calculated on a weekly basis rather than daily- the weekly productivity is 45 treatments a week, which ends up being about 9 per day. So if you have a patient that requires a one-on-one treatment you can make up your productivity during the week and don't have to stress about it. If you get your productivity accomplished in less than 40 hours (without seeing more than 2 patients per hour), then you can work less than 40 hours and still get paid for 40 hours. So for example, if do most of your 45 treatments in first four days, and you want to take half day on last day- that is perfectly allowable. No one dictates your schedule and in fact we are looking for people who can manage themselves. Also, if your productivity is over the productivity for 40 hours- they willingly pay overtime. It is a very flexible model and the owners don’t penny pinch, however they need therapists that are really going to stick to the 45 patient productivity in order to be sustainable. Because there is so much freedom, they also require therapists who will be Independent and responsible.
*Pay and Benefits for the Physical Therapist position:*
-The Physical Therapist can get paid salary plus benefits, or the hourly per diem rate up to full-time hours (your choice). If the candidate wants the hourly per diem rate, they can get $40 to $50 per hour without benefits and get paid up to 40 hours per week at that rate-- so that would be a yearly pay of $83,000 to $104,000 per year. Or the candidate can choose to get paid salary plus benefits-- The pay scale for that ranges from 68,000 to 85,000 per year depending on Physical Therapy (PT) experience.

-An additional benefit of working in this setting is that there is very little or no lifting involved, as these patients are well enough to be living at home.
-For full-time employees-- This is a salaried position so you are guaranteed your weekly pay amount.
-For full-time employees-- If the Physical Therapist finshes early, the PT is allowed to leave and still get paid for full-time. The Physical Therapist is given 2 hours of paperwork time at the end of each day because patients arrive at 9am and leave at 3pm, so the PT can either take 2 hours to do paperwork each day, or if the PT finishes early the PT can leave early and still get paid 40 hours.
REQUIREMENTS of the Physical Therapist position: The Physical Therapist must have one year of licensed experience as a Physical Therapist. The Physical Therapist must either have a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy to qualify for this job as well as a license to practice PT in the state. The Physical Therapist must also either be a US citizen or have your green card- no exceptions. For this medical adult day center job, we will take physical therapists with experience in any of the following: Skilled Nursing Facility, SNF, Visiting Nurse Association, Visiting Nurse Services, outpatient homecare, VNS, VNA, Home Health, Homecare, Outpatient, Medical Adult Day Center, Clinic. The therapist must be willing to cover 3 adult daycares for full-time, however they can be covered on different days.
